S45 Greyhound badge

Greyhounds acquired an association with good luck in Medieval Europe; seemingly deriving from the breed’s noble status. This association with good fortune is reinforced on the badge by the legend ‘Bien Ai A Qui Me Porte’, meaning ‘good luck to whoever wears me’. A few examples of the badge have been found through Europe, but the use of Old French strongly suggests a French origin for the badge.
